I read somewhere in a thread around here that Athena leeches u/p's from dumpsites..
1 what are dumpsites?
2 do the logins leeched from the 'dumpsites' still work on that particular site?
3 how does athena find these sites? random ips or or does it have an internal list or????

obviously this isnt too illegal though i still run thru an anon proxy, but
4 will Athena ever run onto a site it shouldn't? .gov .mil etc?

Dump site is a site where passes are posted. Athena finds them through google, so there's no other concerns for illegality. Passes are likelly NOT to work on sites they are found on.

Has anyone noticed that there is a HUGE lag when loading files from athena to upextractor?
is there a limit on the size of the txt file that upextractor can open/fix/save?

from google cache - well that's fine, but i can tell
you that athena leech also a lot of crap and scam.

Well by nature internet passwords sites never produce that great of quality passes, only true use I find with this program is simply its great fodder for jtr, and of course stripping the combos from the logins wont hurt either.

You can tweak athena not to use sites from google cache.

You can find working passwords with Athena. But only the worst sites with lazy webmasters.

Athena is only useful for wordlists.

i agree with everyone else too that you can never get any working passes when using athena and when you do find a working pass( once in a while) it is usally some crappy site.

I've just got into cracking, not going to lie about it, but I am trying-
and I've found that Athena really doesn't yield a ton of working passwords, it's definately good for getting some wordlists, but I've tried several sites (bangbros, videosz etc) and they don't work, (any of the several worldlists I created). Whatever, I'm going to keep exploring.
