Talking Tips That Can Help...

Hey ALL!,

I aint no Pro and I aint no Genius. And I can't spell that well either. But I do have some tips that may help out some new peeps when it comes to crackin.

1. It's true I learned it here #1 Make sure you test your proxies against the site you are trying to get. I use Access Diver (AD) to do this. That's all about I use AD for too. Sentry #1.

2. Have your Username and Password files tailored for the site you want.

- Let's say you have a 20,000 wordlist. How many of these are actually good for the site you are working on. How do we check?

1. If I go to the site ex. www.anysite.com and click on the join button I may get lucky and it may show me a Username (6-8) Password (6-8). I can take this info and go into Raptor and and filter out any User & Passes that do not meet this criteria. So now my list may shrink to 10,000, but atleast I know I have cut down on some crap that definitely wont work.

2. Well you may ask me, What if the site just says Username & Password but does not have any length? Well here is what I found out, it doesn't always work but I have a good history going. I use Internet Explorer, well pick on me later for those who hate it but anyways when I am on the join page and it doesn't show a length I, RIGHT CLICK the web page and click on VIEW SOURCE. When I do this a text document pops up. I click CTRL & F which is the search function and type in 'username' without quotes. When it goes searching through I can read and find out the length that the site request ex. Username (6-16). I also do the same for the Password. I will take what I find and tailor it for that site.

It aint nothing big and it aint nothing special but it has helped me out when it comes to crackin.

SNOWDOG

And once again I would know nothing if it wasn't for all the great tutorials and information I learned from XISP! Thanks to all!

That's a nice little tip snowdog.

Can I add something to your #1 tip. You can use raptor as you suggest to remove unusable combos, but be sure to save as a new file so your original is not lost. However, easiest thing to do is just use the word length filter built into most bruteforcers.

Snowdog, this is a nice tut, worthy to be placed in the tutorial section. The Cracking help section is really for questions. So I am moving this over there.

Gotta' admit that your advice about checking the source to find info on the username and password length is something I never thought of. Good tip.
