Hmmm...If you have to remove it doesn't that say something? Anyway, 2 things.
Point #1.
At one time Jean (the author of AD) Bundled his program with certain other programs in an attempt to make money. The other programs turned out to be nasty spyware (unknown to him he claims. But that is a little hard to believe coming from such a gifted coder). After so much complaints he removed the offensive bundle and made it optional.
Point #2.
Even before that and to this day AD contains a "phone home" feature. This is explained as a way to look for updates and relay news about the program to the user. However!! AD will not function if you block this, there is no way to turn it off, sniffing this connection seems to indicate unusually large amounts of information in the traffic. This has never been explained by the author.
